I am Farmer Steph and My Passion Is Helping KIDS & SCHOOLS GROW…

At Farm to Table Kids, we help children find what lights their heart in Nature through regenerative farming, farm to table cooking, and nature crafting…and you know what - we think we’re pretty good at it. For no reason other than, it is what we love and we can’t stop, won’t stop, and we have a growth mindset to overcome any challenges so we can keep doing what we were put here to do: Life. Laugh. Garden. Appreciate. Repeat.

  • Farmer Steph has been growing organic veggies & flowers with kids by her side since 2009.

  • Since FTTK Summer Farm Camp was founded in 2017, Farm to Table Kids has provided in-person, dirty-hands-on education and inspiration to over 1,500 children through our FTTK Summer Farm Camp alone.

  • We grow organic veggies and flowers for the local school systems in Maine and our award-winning restaurants. We visit school classrooms all over the state throughout the year. We grow a flower CSA to spread flower power love to our farm friends, and Farmer Steph hosts year-round nature based workshops for kids and adults.

  • Farmer Steph founded Farm to Table Kids as a non-profit educational farm camp in 2017 after her son, Farmer Joey got well from stage 4 cancer. In 2022 Farmer Steph dissolved the non-profit and transitioned the business to an LLC (as a single parent and sole business owner, the 501c3 designation was too heavy a weight to carry and it was dissolved). She can grow anything, but she can’t write a grant…lol.

  • Farmer Steph is a 3rd generation grower. My sweetest memories are with my grandfather, James P. McCue III, in his flower garden. He was a WWII Navy Vet and when he came home from the war he became a Pansy Flower Farmer. My grandfather learned to grow from his father who immigrated here from Ireland. My grandfather didn’t get to finish 8th grade - we was the eldest and he had to work in the fields. My family continues the McCue family tradition with the McCue Garden Center in Woburn, MA (Farmer Steph’s hometown), now owned and operated by her cousin, Megan McCue and recently and frequently nominated Best of Boston.

  • Farmer Steph has been farming with kids so long that some of her first crop of farm camp kids are now officially on payroll as FTTK Summer Camp Counselors!

  • Farmer Steph is a Life Lab certified School Garden Consultant and manger gardens from Maine to Las Vegas, NV.

School Garden Consultancy

Stephanie McDonough, Life Lab School Garden Educator.

Farmer Steph became a certified School Garden Consultant through Life Lab, a 501c3 non-profit on the UCSC Farm that is 'committed to advancing equity and inclusion as we cultivate children’s love of learning, nourishing food, and nature through garden-based education.'

In 2023, Farmer Steph began growing the onsite gardens at the Maine Coast Waldorf School in Freeport, Maine, where she hosts Farm to Table Kids summer camp. Once school starts, the gardens are transitioned to the school's care for the continuation of garden based learning.

Consultancy Work at Alexander Dawson School in Las Vegas, NV

Farmer Steph began working with the Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Ridge in Las Vegas, Nevada to redefine and attain their garden goals. This included a roots-up diagnostic of the existing garden. Everything from the soil, to seeds, to garden layout, to school garden educator, and school garden activation was refreshed and revived.

Working with school gardens to optimize their production yields and inspire classroom activation is one of the most impactful ways to serve garden-based education to the masses. In her 15 years of farming with kids, Farmer Steph has seen gardens of all shapes and sizes.  She’d love to take a look at your garden site and activation plan and see where I can bring new energy to your garden goals. Contact her to learn more and get started!

Curriculum FAQ

Q: Who are the Farm to Table Kids lessons & curriculum created for?

A: There are 2 versions: ONE is for General Public ages 8-108; the SECOND is for Educators: School Garden Programs, School Districts, Homeschoolers, Nature-based Educators, anyone interested in organic farming through simple approaches with a focus on inspiring and activating children in the garden.

A: All programs have been created for independent learners (ages 8+) to watch, learn and grow with us at home.

Q: Does the curriculum align with Next Generation Science Standards?

A: YES! Farmer Steph’s Growing Dahlias (for Middle schoolers) is aligned with NGSS. All other programs and lessons are not yet aligned with NGSS.

Q: Farmer Steph’s Growing Dahlia Curriculum offers ONE DOZEN FREE (12) dahlias with each curriculum purchase. What do we do with the Dahlia flowers once they bloom?

A: That’s the fun part!… the intent is for the abundance of dahlias to inspire conversation about how the flowers can be of service to your community. Could flower sales help fund your school garden program, support a farm to cafeteria movement, fund a local food bank? This is a great conversation to have with your Farm Kids!

A: Dahlias come to prime bloom in September, the same month as pediatric cancer awareness month. As the mom of a stage 4 cancer survivor I highly encourage all program participants to donate at least ONE flower sale in September to pediatric cancer awareness.

Q: Are DAHLIA TUBERS INCLUDED?

A: Farmer Steph is the founder of Farm to Table Kids and curriculum creator. Writing the Dahlia curriculum has been a dream in the making for years. To celebrate the accomplishment and launch of “Farmer Steph’s Growing Dahlias Curriculum” Farmer Steph is including 1 DOZEN Dahlia Tubers ($96+ value; mix of Farmer Steph’s favorites: Cafe au Lait, Jowie Winnie, Larks Ebb, Bride to Be, etc.) with the curriculum to NEW SUBSCRIBERS. Note: subscribers are responsible for shipping cost; tubers can only be shipped to the continuous USA. WHILE SUPPLIES LAST/until May 10, 2024.
